Owner/Director: LaShawn Davis-Oge

LaShawn Davis-Oge has accumulated extensive experience in the cosmetology industry since the age of 15. Her journey began with enrollment in the Cosmetology program at Wicomico Applied Vocational Tech School in Salisbury, Maryland, where she dedicated herself from 10th to 12th grade. Upon completing the program in 1992, she obtained her Cosmetology license, marking the inception of her professional career.

Commencing as a cosmetology assistant at her aunt’s salon, Expressions by Diane, at the age of 16, LaShawn received exceptional mentorship, training, and education under the guidance of Diane Cropper, a highly esteemed figure in the field. Her admiration for her aunt's expertise fueled her determination to absorb every aspect of the trade, culminating in the acquisition of her Senior Cosmetology License in 1997.

At 24, LaShawn ventured into entrepreneurship by establishing her own salon. In December 2019, she achieved a significant milestone by acquiring her inaugural commercial property, Oge’s Hair Studio, LLC, where she currently owns and operates a comprehensive salon offering a full range of services.

Throughout her career, LaShawn has garnered accolades, including numerous first place finishes in hair competitions, notably excelling in the Skill Olympics during her high school years. In 2022, she further expanded her impact on the industry by acquiring Oge’s Empire Beauty Institute, LLC, demonstrating her commitment to delivering exceptional education in basic and advanced Cosmetology, Barbering, and Nail Technology. Her dedication to passing on her passion and expertise to her students is evident through her exceptional teaching and communication skills.

In addition, LaShawn holds an associate degree in criminal justice and a bachelor's degree in behavioral science, adding a multifaceted dimension to her professional background.

Admissions Coordinator/ Student Services: Kimberly Bailey

With over 35 years of experience in administrative assistance and clerical support, Kimberly Bailey brings a wealth of expertise to her role as the Student Services and Admissions Coordinator at Oge’s Empire Beauty Institute. Kimberly is dedicated to guiding prospective students through the admissions process and supporting the needs of current students to ensure a positive and enriching educational experience.

Kimberly's academic background includes a bachelor’s degree in behavioral science, providing her with a sturdy foundation in understanding human behavior and the social sciences. Complementing this, she holds a master’s in social work, equipping her with the skills and knowledge necessary to address the diverse needs of students and provide valuable support within the educational setting.

In addition to her academic achievements, Kimberly has honed her crisis intervention skills, further enhancing her ability to provide empathetic and effective support to students during challenging times. Her extensive experience in community and human services, spanning over three decades, has allowed her to develop a deep understanding of the needs and concerns of the individuals she serves.

Kimberly also offers notary services, further demonstrating her commitment to facilitating administrative processes and ensuring the smooth operation of institutional procedures.

Beyond her professional responsibilities, Kimberly is deeply involved in her community and is enthusiastic about making a positive impact on the lives of others. Her dedication to supporting students and her experience in administrative and human services make her an invaluable asset to Oge’s Empire Beauty Institute.

Cosmetology & Barbering Instructor: Michelle Salas

Michelle Salas is a distinguished Senior Cosmetologist with over 30 years of experience in the beauty industry. Her journey began with the successful completion of a cosmetology vocational program at Parkside Vocational Tech School in Salisbury, Maryland, where she dedicated herself from 10th to 12th grade. Michelle's commitment to excellence led her to join forces with Lashawn Oge, the esteemed owner of the institution, setting the stage for her illustrious career.

Throughout her professional tenure, Michelle has honed her expertise through a myriad of hands-on training classes from industry giants such as Paul Mitchell, Redken, Oribe, Deva Curl, and Bumble & Bumble. Her unwavering dedication to mastery has been further exemplified through extensive Wella color training, as well as her proficiency in Bumble & Bumble razor cutting and the Deva Curl haircut technique.

In her current capacity, Michelle serves as an esteemed instructor at Oge’s Empire Beauty Institute, where she imparts her wealth of knowledge and experience to aspiring cosmetologists. Moreover, she holds the esteemed title of Delaware Cosmetologist since 2021 and has been a Maryland Cosmetologist since 1992, with the additional distinction of a Senior Cosmetologist. Michelle's commitment to the industry is further evidenced by her ownership of a salon in Annapolis, Maryland, and her possession of a senior cosmetology license.

Instructor Assistant: Ofnien Loculien

Ofnien Loculien is a dedicated cosmetologist who embarked on their career in the beauty industry in 2015 as an assistant to Lashawn Oge, a seasoned professional in the field. Their experience working under Lashawn Oge provided them with valuable insights and hands-on training, igniting their passion for hair, makeup, and skincare, and ultimately prompting them to pursue formal education in cosmetology.

In 2019, Ofnien began attending cosmetology school to further their expertise and knowledge in the field. Throughout their time in cosmetology school, Ofnien demonstrated a strong work ethic, a keen eye for detail, and a genuine enthusiasm for learning the latest techniques and trends in the beauty industry. They eagerly immersed themselves in all aspects of cosmetology, from hair cutting and styling to skincare treatments and makeup application.

After successfully completing their cosmetology program, Ofnien became a licensed cosmetologist in 2020, marking a significant milestone in their professional journey. Armed with their newfound knowledge and skills, Ofnien is committed to providing exceptional service and helping clients look and feel their best.

OUR MISSION

At Oge’s Empire Beauty Institute, LLC, we are committed to providing an exceptional educational experience that prepares students for successful careers in cosmetology, barbering, esthetics, and nail technology. Our comprehensive training program, known as the "Empire State of Art Cosmetology Education & Learning Experience," equips students with the knowledge and skills necessary to excel in the industry.

The school strives to continuously improve its operations to keep abreast of the ever-changing developments and new techniques in cosmetology, barbering, nails, and throughout the beauty industry. The school maintains honest and fair relationships with staff, students, patrons, Departments of Education, State Board of Cosmetology and Barbering, and with other schools.

Facility

Oge’s Empire Beauty Institute, LLC was originally founded in 2022. LaShawn Davis-Oge purchased the school in 2022 and remains the current owner and operator.
